The Professional Contractors Group’s (PCG) dedicated National Freelancers Day website is now live and visitors to www.nationalfreelancersday.org.uk can find out more about the special Day which PCG has been organised in a drive to encourage everyone to acknowledge all freelancers, consultants and contractors and the contribution they make to the UK economy.
National Freelancers Day will highlight three key themes:
- highlight this flexible, agile and expert community to UK businesses, showing how to engage and work with freelancers effectively
- celebrate Freelancing as a valid career choice, highlighting the community and support network
- emphasise that to unlock the full potential of freelancing, Government must recognise that freelancers are in business and entitled to clear and fair taxation laws.
Commenting on the Day planned, John Brazier, MD of PCG said:
On and around November 23rd, PCG is planning on making as much noise as possible to highlight freelancing and freelance issues and visitors to the website will be able to find out more about the various events taking place to celebrate the Day and hear more from freelancers and organisations about the business of freelancing and what it means to them.
We wanted to establish a special day for all freelancers so that on National Freelancers Day this third way of working is recognised and we can celebrate the talents, achievements and worth of freelancers up and down the country.
The Professional Contractors Group (PCG), www.pcg.org.uk, was formed in May 1999 to provide independent contractors and consultants with a representative voice in opposition to the original IR35 proposals. Since then, PCG has evolved from being a single-issue campaign group to being a fully fledged, not-for-profit professional body representing knowledge workers who choose to be self-employed.
PCG has over 18,000 members working in a wide variety of sectors including oil and gas, engineering, information technology, management consultancy, marketing, telecommunications and pharmaceuticals.
